The morning after our wedding, we had breakfast at the hotel with friends and family (the lemon ricotta pancakes were ah-mazing!) and then started driving south for our honeymoon.
We stayed overnight in North Carolina at a horse farm bed and breakfast we found on Airbnb- it was such a cute place! The owner was so sweet and left us orange juice and champagne for mimosas and we had the prettiest (and yummiest) breakfast delivered to our door in the morning. We walked around and met some of the horses before finishing our drive to South Carolina.
My grandparents own a condo in Garden City, SC which is just south of Myrtle Beach and they graciously let us stay there for our honeymoon! I spent a week nearly every summer in Garden City growing up so it was so fun going back there with Scott and visiting all my favorite places.
Unfortunately, we didn’t spend as much time at the actual beach as we would have liked- it rained several days and on our last “good” beach day I got stung by a jellyfish and had to head back to the condo. However, after dealing with the busyness and stress of the wedding, it was nice to have downtime and watch movies inside while it was raining.
We took an overnight trip to Charleston, SC and stayed at the King Charles Inn. Charleston is one of my favorite cities- it’s so pretty and charming! The night we arrived we had dinner at Jestine’s Kitchen, just down the street from our hotel and indulged in some local southern foods (Cheerwine is so good!) A woman at a nearby table overheard us telling the waitress it was our honeymoon and paid for our wine – gotta love Southern hospitality!
We spent the next day mostly around King Street, going in some shops and exploring.
It was such a fun trip, and I can’t wait for our next vacation to South Carolina!
